Project
J2EE solution for Damage Management
Central damage management integrates into application landscape of BMW Group
F&F has developed a J2EE-based Damage Management System (Schaden Management System, or SMS) for BMW in which all occurrences of damage and vehicle conditions are entered for fleet vehicles, employee-leased vehicles and rental agency vehicles. This system has been in operation since 2003. It replaces various damage and condition management tools in other systems in a uniform and consistent manner.
The Damage Management System has various interfaces with systems for managing vehicle and user data, an interface with the insurance company responsible for claims settlement as well as an interface for the AudaCar damage calculation system.
As a rule, the damages sustained by fleet and leased employee vehicles are entered by BMW employees on the company intranet. Review and further processing of the damage notification is carried out by the responsible departments at the various locations.
The damage calculation system AudaCar, which uses current and uniform calculation principles, is used for computing repair costs in cases of damage. The vehicle return process can be conducted completely online in the presence of the customer. Vehicle processing personnel use newest-generation WLAN-connected tablet PCs to check optional equipment and accessories and for online entry of wear and damage. Assessment of vehicle condition and calculation of costs take place during the return process in front of the customer, who then receives a printed report with a model-specific image of the vehicle indicating locations of damage.
Damage estimators can produce detailed reports directly in AudaCar. These are then immediately available in SMS.
The vehicle condition data stored in the system is incorporated into future price calculations for the vehicles.
To support claims settlement, numerous documents can be generated using the current data and saved in PDF format, printed and/or sent as e-mail attachment.
